The following day, at Williams' appearance at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, New Jersey on Nov. 7, Katt announced that he would make his final stand up performance on December 31, 2008, citing wear and tear on the road, the need to keep his family together, and a desire to help young up-and-coming comedy acts get their start.

On December 31, 2008, while performing at a New Year's Eve show in Detroit, Katt Williams began to insult Steve Harvey (The Original Kings of Comedy) for calling himself an original king of comedy. Katt stated that Richard Pryor and Bill Cosby are the only original kings of comedy. He went on to say, "How can you be the original if you were not the first?"

Over the New Year weekend, Katt was slapped by a man at a club in Detroit while attempting to perform a freestyle. He began singing about audience members in the club and began with the man calling him out on his jewelry. Unlike most celebrities, Kat Williams is known for not surrounding himself with body guards and denying ANYONE to talk to him, whether it is a fan or someone who really dislikes him. After his freestyle the man walked up to Katt while he was smoking a cigarette in one hand an a drink in another with his entourage (who the man did not know they were acquaintances). The man walked up to him and slapped him across the face, however, the slap was so weak his face did not even move. Right after this, Katt and the people around him (his entourage) all gave mean muggs prepared to stomp him out. Kat Williams intelligently calmed his entourage down and wisely let it past to save himself the legal trouble of causing serious bodily harm against the man and hurting his career and reputation. In his own words, he said, "I lose if I stomp him out and I lose if I do nothing. That's the risk I take for allowing anyone to approach me in public, but I would prefer living my life this way any day."

Psychiatric Evaluation

Friday, November 14, 2008, Katt was admitted to Tuomey Regional Medical Center in Sumter, South Carolina for a psychiatric evaluation after a string of incidents involving erratic behavior.

According to reports from WIS News 10, Williams stopped by the Mt. Vernon Inn at around 8:30am on Friday Nov. 14, but did not check in after a motel clerk asked him for identification. He visited the offices of an attorney several hours later, and was transported to the hospital later that day.

Following this visit, Williams cancelled his November 20 appearance at The Comedy Festival in Las Vegas.[9] In a statement to the press, Williams' tour publicist, Yvette Shearer, cited a hectic tour schedule as causing Williams "incredible" fatigue, and said that he has sought medical care.
